You have an open map so the story isn't strictly linear which enables you to explore the game freely. The story of the game starts off very vague and throughout the game you still don't have much of an idea of what's really going on. The sounds in the game are good when to comes to music which I liked but for some of the sound effects they were pretty basic and didn't fit the part just right. Like the walking sound effect for example. The graphics are pretty good. One issue I discovered while playing was a bit of lag as I walked. The rain and lightening were pretty sick. The shades are creepy. Since there is going to be more context released later on for this game I'm looking forward as to how they are going to develop the story, the characters and most importantly the plot. I feel like this first release is lacking luster compared to what I was expecting but I had fun playing the game nonetheless. I don't want to give away to much but I was confused and disappointed in ending of this part but I am hopeful for more DC to come. Play it for yourself! I enjoyed it for what it cost and what it is.02/22/2017Just finished playing the final chapter of this game. So overall review. I liked the style of this indie game. It fits the definition. The graphics were clean and I liked the ambient scene and music as well. To me the music can really make or break immersion and that it an important factor. I enjoyed the first part of the game the most. I loved the gray cloudy sky and the feeling of isolation. I wish the story had more meat to it. I still don't understand what the dark souls have to do with the story ( it may have been a piece of information I have missed in the game). The shades still creeped me out. I still recommend this game and had a lot of funny playing it.. One of the best mystery survival gems from this developer (also Witch Hunter). There's a bit of detective, fps, ghosts n' horror and you get to see aliens too! Two decent sized maps and 3-4 hours of atmospheric gameplay.The price is well worth it and if you want more of this style, purchase Witch Hunter.Looking forward to Shadows Peak 2 or something similar.. I begrudgingly give this title a thumbs up. I wish I had a "wait" button to choose.I enjoyed my time with it, and I am interested to see what happens with chapter two.But a big warning regards price for the amount of content. I am generously saying two hours to complete this title. I know its early access, and I wouldn't be raising this issue if the price reflected a two hour long (early access state) indie title. Decided to play this after beating Witch Hunt. Would not rate this one as highly as I beat it in under three hours total. Has a very nice survival horror feel to it and a twist in the plot that you'll either love or hate. I notice this game dev reuses a lot of assets between his games but not in a horrible way. The times I died were more motivating than frustrating and it rarely took me more than twice to make it through an area. Similarly to Witch Hunt, I found myself wanting to explore the maps I was given and I found exploration worthwhile. As with Witch Hunt the enemies get more numerous and health/ammo become more scarce late in the game. Overall I'd say I got my money's worth, especially considering I got this game super cheap as part of a holiday bundle. For what it is, I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5. It lost a bit because it ended just when all the elements of the game were coming together, unlike Witch Hunt which peaked in around chapter 4. This one's got three chapters and I wanted another. It is for this reason that I score it lower.. Flaming Teddybears? Nah.... So I have finished the game. I gotta say I did not expect the game to be short since this is titled as an Open World Horror game. I thought the game would have a lot of stuff to do beside following the main quest. I got a bit dissapointed. It IS kind of an Open World game but, to be honest, the world isn't very big. I was roaming around the whole map and exploring, and I was also able to finish the game within a short period of time.The ghosts in this game are a bit creepy but you will get used to those once you explore a bit and encounter them frequently. The world does feel atmospheric. But overall, the ghosts/monsters are dissapointing. They did scare me a bit when I first encountered them but after exploring for a while I just got used to it and they did not look scary anymore. In fact, the 'monsters' in the Final Chapter looked funny. What will get you is the sounds that play when monsters see you.The story is okay. But it's just short. I was enjoying the game and it felt like the story ended so quickly. I am sure that if I did not explore and just followed the main quest, I might have finished the game earlier. The good thing is, the game won't tell you how to do your job. You have to find out everything by yourself. But then again, it is very easy. The map was useless. I hardly used the map. The whole game world does not have anything else besides popping up of the ghosts out of nowhere.The Boss fights are not challenging at all. You can kill them easily. It does not require any sorts of efforts.However, I am still going to recommend this game because it is made by an indie developer. This game is not perfect but definitely good for an indie game. The best thing about this game is that how well optimized it is. I did not experience any lag throughout the whole game. FPS never went below 55 and almost always stayed 60 without any problem. And I did enjoy playing it, I just wish if the story was longer. I don't know if the devs gonna add anything new because this game isn't in Early Access anymore. But I'm gonna support the dev and recommend this because it is a decent horror game and I am sure they will get even better with their future games. Besides, I got it on sale in a cheaper price so it is well worth the money.My ratings -Gameplay - 7/10Optimization - 9/10Story - 6/10.
